Bacterial Vaginosis is a condition where the bacteria in the vagina is disrupted and replaced by an overgrowth of certain bacteria and is sometimes accompanied by discharge, odor, pain, itching, or burning. This is sometimes called nonspecific vaginitis or gardnerella vaginitis. Bacterial Vaginosis may occur simultaneously with other infections or sexually transmitted diseases.

This infection is most common in women of childbearing age and sexually active. Vagina normally contains mostly good bacteria and fewer harmful bacteria, and infection occurs when harmul bacteria dominates the good ones. Untreated bacterial vaginosis may cause serious complications, such as increased susceptibility to sexually transmitted infections including HIV and gonorrhea, and may present other complications for pregnant women.

Factors to help prevent infection is to abstain from sex until infection is cured, inform partners that treatment is undertaken, limit sexual relationship and, regular use of condoms. To restore women from Bacterial Vaginosis, they be advise to have conventional or naturopathic treatment like antibiotics or abstinence from sex. Women are also provided with dietary recommendations, homeopathic tharapeutics, and warm sitz baths with tea tree oil, pills and cream or gel.
