Erectile dysfunction can sometimes be called as “impotence”, which is can be a total inability to get or keep an erection firm enough for sexual intercourse. Increased use of treatments like vacuum devices and injectable drugs became widely available and accepted. Erectile dysfunction usually has a physical cause like disease, injury or side effects of drugs and result to impairs of blood flow in the penis. Though, this is treatable at any age.

It can also successfully treat a wide variety of problems that interfere with sexual activity like inhibited sexual desire, sexual aversion, premature ejaculation, orgasm difficulty or sexual trauma.

Sex therapy utilizes various techniques and is conducted by a trained therapist. During the initial session, men are advised to read books on sexuality, touching exercises or practice sexual communication skills. The successive session covers complete history and individual’s background and personality. Sexual counseling de-emphasizes sex until other important aspects of the relationship are better understood and communicated.

Common techniques to treat sexual dysfunction are Seman’s technique helps through “tart-stop” approach to penis simulation, Sensate focus therapy is the practice of non-genital and genital touching between partners, and Squeeze technique treats premature ejaculation.

All the techniques must be practices faithfully for long periods of time to relearn behaviors.
